Brian and Ruth Christine Newsletter: Edition 21

July 2004 Newsletter

Dear Everybody-

Isn't summer fantastic?  Ruth and I are doing well in our respective country clubs at opposite ends of the state.  DOC is treating (mistreating) us as well as can be expected for a government agency.

Not much news to tell this month.

Ed Steele is working on our next level of appeal to the Oregon Supreme Court.  We are also working on a motion to our original trail/sentencing court to request they fix an erroneous sentence.  I should get about 4 years knocked off at this hearing.  Please pray for early access to the courts (sometimes they play games to slow you down, etc.) and for our sentences to be fixed as well as for our robbery convictions to be overturned.

Legally we could not have committed robbery because we had no intent to keep the van.  We do not contest the other felony charges, but the record should show truth and not distortion, and I don't think it's too much to go after God to set the record straight.

Our petition to the Oregon Supreme Court to review the Oregon Appellate Court's decision in our case has been filed as of July 17th.  I'm not sure how long it takes before it can be heard, but I'm guessing it's at least 6 months.  Having read Ed's arguments in the petition, I am very pleased indeed.  The Oregon Appellate Court's arguments were seriously anemic and Ed did an excellent job of attacking them from all angles.

God bless all of you for your love to Ruth and I and to our dear family, especially our daughters.  Praise God for each and every one of you!

Sorry this months is so short, will try to put in some poetry next month when we're not so busy doing legal work.

Love, Brian & Ruth =)
